Friday's show was excellent this year. The afternoon weather was hot and so was the music on stage. The evening show was paused a few hours while thunderstorms swept through the region and I went over to the Homegrown stage and listened to the Moron Brothers do their unplugged act. They kept a few of us tappin our toes until the storms blew over and live music returned on the main stage where JD Crow and New South packed more energy than the thunder and lightning display just moments before. They were followed by IIIrd Tyme Out, a group that has some of the best harmony going in music today. They asked JD Crowe to come back on stage to sit in with IIIrd Tyme Out for a couple songs and the crowd went wild. With Russell's singing and JD's banjo playing, it was truly one of the greatest sets in the history of Festival of the Bluegrass! After the show, I spent a little time on Hippy Hill. Shhhhhh!
